The Advanced Networking Research group was founded in 1999 by professor Ioannis Stavrakakis. The group serves as a research unit of the Communication Networks Laboratory (CNL) within the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications of the University of Athens.

During the past years, the team members have demonstrated active research involvement in the areas of content-centric networking (wired/wireless) broadband and multimedia communications as well as the uprising Network Science discipline. Through the participation in numerous  EU and national projects, the team has acquired considerable experience in the area of networking research.
